B & D Special 1938 Brown/Metal
This is a very nice 4-string tenor banjo made by the Bacon Banjo Company of Groton Connecticut. The "Special" model was made from the turn of the century until about 1938. It features a resonator, ebony fret board and mother-of-pearl floral headstock inlay. This instrument is in generally good playable condition with nice old tone. What appears to be the original skin head is intact but stained as would be expected. The neck angle appears reasonable giving it a very playable action. The instrumentshows the nicks and scratched expected of a vintage instrument of this age and some of the nickel plating has worn off from the metal resonator, but overall it has good appearance and character. Original Hard shell case in avg condition.
